CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

The purpose of the CBC Spouses Education Scholarship is to promote the progress of the worldwide Black community through the cultivation of leaders, influencing policy, and enlightening the public.

For over thirty years, the CBCF, alongside CBC Spouses, has granted scholarships to gifted and deserving students. Annually, the CBC Spouses Education Scholarship presents over 300 scholarships to students who exhibit leadership qualities through outstanding community service and academic excellence. Our scholarship initiatives assist current or prospective college students in diverse fields of study.

CBC Spouses Educational Program has chosen to grant scholarships to exceptionally talented and highly motivated African-American or Black students who are pursuing an associate’s, undergraduate, or graduate degree in the following fields:

  • Doctoral degrees in Political Science.
  • Public Policy.
  • Public-Administration.
  • International Relations.
  • Public Affairs.
  • Mass communications.
  • African-American Studies.
  • Legislative Affairs.
  • Pre-Law, Criminal Justice.
  •  American History.
  •  Juris Doctor.

Eligibility Criteria For CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

  • Students must be enrolled in, or planning to enroll full-time in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree program at an accredited college or university. 
  • Current high school seniors are also eligible to apply.
  • Students must reside in a district represented by a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
  • Students must be either a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident.
  • Students should self-identify as Black or African-American.
  • Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Students should showcase leadership qualities and active involvement in their community.

How To Apply For CBC Spouses Education Scholarship 

Students are required to complete a two-part online application, which must be submitted by March 31, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET. The application includes:

  1. Students must record the video Personal Statement – limited to a maximum of 3 minutes.
  2. Students must submit two Letters of Recommendation.
  3. Students must upload educational documents either official or unofficial. Both are acceptable.
  4. Students must submit a resume detailing work experience, extracurricular activities, honors, community service, and special skills.
  5. Students must provide a recent professional photograph suitable for publication, such as a formal graduation or professional-quality photograph.

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship Amount

Every year CBC Spouses Education Scholarship award varies. Furthermore, students who will be selected for the scholarship will receive amounts starting from $2,500 to $20,000.
