About Saul T. Wilson, Jr.

After retiring in 1989, Dr. Wilson continued to practice public veterinary medicine at Tuskegee University, having begun his career at APHIS. He made significant contributions to the welfare of the country’s cattle and poultry industries throughout his time with the federal government.

 In the 1950s, he was crucial in the extermination of foot-and-mouth disease from Mexico, assisting in the defense of our nation against a resurgence of this terrible animal illness. He left a significant impression on both the public veterinary medical field and APHIS.

  • Students must be good in academics.
  • Graduate students must be in excellent academic standing and have completed no more than one full year of veterinary medicine, while undergraduate students must have finished at least two years of pre-veterinary medicine education or a four-year program in biomedical science.
